Philippe Vendrix is a Belgian musicologist and a distinguished research director at the CNRS. He was born on March 29, 1964, in Liège (Belgium). His work focuses on the history of music and music theory, from the Renaissance to the 18th century. Since 1992, he has been the director of the Ricercar Program, a musicology research program at the Centre for Advanced Studies of the Renaissance in Tours. From 2007 to 2016, he was the director of the Centre for Advanced Studies of the Renaissance in Tours. From 2014 to 2016, he served as president of the National Network of Maisons des Sciences de l’Homme. From 2016 to 2020, he was president of the University of Tours.
